The year is quickly coming to a close. And while many people are excited about the holidays and the prospect of an exciting new year, other travelers are worried about having the last few days of enjoying their elite status—likely for holiday travel. However, for those who enjoyed a great year of travel with elite status on Alaska Airlines, the end-of-year blues does not have to settle in for you just yet!

For a limited time, Alaska Airlines is letting its loyal travelers fast track their way back into elite status with the airline. But only for those up for an early-year challenge.

Alaska Airlines Fast Track to Status Offer

With the Alaska Airlines Fast Track to Status offer, travelers who didn’t earn enough miles by the end of 2022 to maintain their elite status through 2023 can get their status back by accumulating the following miles between January 13 – April 13, 2023.

  • MVP Members: 5,000 miles
  • MVP Gold Members: 10,000 miles
  • MVP Gold 75K Members: 20,000 miles

This miles challenge represents a significant reduction from the standard miles required to attain the respective elite statuses on Alaska Airlines. The standard miles requirements for elite status for comparison are:

  • MVP status: 20,000 miles
  • MVP Gold status: 40,000 miles
  • MVP Gold 75K: 75,000 miles

Elite status on Alaska Airlines is granted to travelers who meet minimum miles requirements within a calendar year and can enjoy the benefits from the end of the year until the end of the following year. However, if you’re unable to meet the miles requirements by the end of the benefits period, the benefits will be forfeited.

Who Can Participate in the Alaska Airlines Fast Track to Status Offer?

The special miles requirements are only available for travelers who already held elite status on Alaska Airlines—MVP, MVP Gold, MVP Gold 75K—by the start of the new period on January 1, 2022. With this limited-time offer, elite status members have the chance only to earn the status they held during the previous year. I.e., MVP members cannot fly 10,000 miles to upgrade to MVP Gold, and MVP Gold or MVP Gold 75K members who do not meet their elite status level requirements will lose their status (unless it meets the standard elite status requirements).

Keep in mind that all elite status perks and benefits (lounge passes, upgrades, etc.) are unavailable after the challenge is completed and their elite status is reinstated for the remainder of the year.

Details About the Fast Track to Status Offer

Only qualifying miles are eligible towards your total miles count during the fast track challenge. Alaska Airlines includes a few restrictions for travelers that can affect how you travel when earning your status back. Keep the following in mind as you get ready to fast track to status:

  • Only miles flown between January 13, 2023-April 13, 2023, are eligible.
  • Fast Track to Status excludes travelers who participated in the January 1st status match program with Alaska Airlines and did not fly the minimum amount of miles to maintain their status.
  • In addition to the minimum miles requirements, travelers must complete at least two segments on Alaska Airlines or flights operated by the carrier.
  • Miles booked using award travel perks or bonus miles (earned using Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® consumer credit card, Alaska Airlines Visa® Business credit card, and retail partner offers) are excluded

Bottom Line

Alaska Airlines provides several ways for travelers to achieve elite status for the upcoming year, first with its recently announced Coast to Elite challenge and now with the Fast Track to Elite Status. So, now has never been a better time to join or maintain elite status on the airline and enjoy perks on Alaska Airlines or partnering OneWorld Alliance airlines.
