In 2026, Mosaic 1 includes a first checked bag free, priority security and check-in, Group 2 boarding, free same-day switches, preferred and extra-legroom seat selection in some situations, and EvenMore seat access at check-in. But the details matter (some benefits do not apply on Blue Basic fares, some only work for companions on the same reservation, and others).

Starting February 1, 2026, JetBlue introduced Family Tiles, which lets tiles earned by children 12 and under count toward the listed adult’s status and perks. Those changes do not rewrite Mosaic 1, but they do change how some travelers should think about qualifying and requalifying.

What JetBlue Mosaic 1 Is

JetBlue Mosaic 1 is the first elite tier in the TrueBlue program. Mosaic 1 requires 50 tiles in a calendar year. You earn 1 tile for every $100 in qualifying spend on JetBlue travel and certain related products, and 1 tile for every $1,000 in qualifying spend on JetBlue credit cards.

Mosaic 1 is not tied to miles flown; the status is linked to JetBlue’s tiered system, which is primarily based on spending. As a result, frequent JetBlue travelers, those who spend a lot on their JetBlue credit card, or those who combine both approaches can achieve the same status level through different means.

How to Qualify for Mosaic 1

The core requirement is simple: 50 tiles in one calendar year. Status is based on qualifying spend completed by December 31, while the status itself remains active through January 31 of the following year. So if you earn Mosaic 1 at any point in 2026, you keep it through January 31, 2027.

*Family Tiles: Starting Feb 1, 2026, children’s JetBlue spend counts toward an adult’s tile balance (A New Year of Rewards: TrueBlue Mosaic Benefits Grow in 2026).

Tiles can come from a few different places. You earn them from qualifying spend on JetBlue travel, JetBlue Vacations, and TrueBlue Travel, and from eligible spend on JetBlue credit cards.

Family Tiles Make Mosaic 1 Easier for Parents

This is one of the most important 2026 changes. JetBlue’s October 2025 press release says that starting February 1, 2026, tiles earned by children ages 12 and under count toward the listed adult’s Mosaic status and perks. JetBlue framed this as the first such program from a U.S. airline.

For families, that can materially change the math. Instead of one adult doing all the qualifying spend, family travel can now help accelerate status more naturally. This does not make Mosaic 1 easy, but it does make it substantially more realistic for parents who already fly JetBlue with children.

The Core Mosaic 1 Benefits in 2026

One free checked bag

Mosaic 1 members get 1 free checked bag. JetBlue also says this applies to eligible travel companions, though the details of companion eligibility depend on being on the same reservation. Mint bookings continue to include two checked bags separately, but Mosaic 1 itself is now clearly a one-bag benefit rather than the old two-bag version some travelers may remember from earlier years.

This is one of the biggest practical perks of Mosaic 1, but it is also one of the areas where older blog posts can mislead readers. If someone is still expecting two free checked bags as the standard Mosaic 1 benefit, that information is outdated.

Priority security and dedicated check-in

Priority Security and Dedicated Check-In as Mosaic 1 signature perks. These are straightforward airport benefits that often save more aggravation than money, but they can still be among the most noticeable day-of-travel improvements.

Group 2 boarding

  • Group 1 is for Mosaic 3 and 4 members and Mint customers
  • Group 2 is for Mosaic 1 and 2 members and EvenMore customers.

That means Mosaic 1 still boards early, but not at the very front of the entire cabin hierarchy.

Free same-day switches

Same-Day Switches as a Mosaic 1 perk, but Blue Basic fares are restricted for same-day switches.

Seat perks: preferred, extra legroom, and EvenMore

Mosaic 1 offers useful benefits regarding locations, but the most valuable version of the benefit—EvenMore — begins at the time of registration rather than at the time of booking, with Blue Basic remaining the main exception.

  • Mosaic 1 customers may select preferred or extra legroom seats at booking
  • or an EvenMore seat at check-in,
  • except when traveling on a Blue Basic fare.

Boarding and Companions: Same Reservation Matters

Customers on the same reservation and checked in together will be assigned the same boarding group. It also says customers on the same reservation who check in separately are not guaranteed the same boarding group, including Mosaic members.

Bonus Points on Flights

Mosaic 1 members earn 3 bonus points for every dollar earned above the base rate when booking directly through jetblue.com or the JetBlue app.

If you fly JetBlue often enough, the bonus points are one of the perks that make it worth the effort to maintain your status.

Reciprocal United Benefits Under Blue Sky

This is one of the biggest new reasons Mosaic 1 matters in 2026. JetBlue’s May 14, 2026 press release says eligible TrueBlue and MileagePlus members now receive reciprocal benefits when traveling on the other airline, provided they include their frequent flyer number in the booking. For JetBlue Mosaic members flying United, that includes:

  • Group 2 boarding for Mosaic 1
  • complimentary access to Economy Plus seating at check-in
  • priority check-in and security
  • complimentary preferred seat selection after booking
  • one free checked bag plus priority bag handling
  • same-day standby options.

That makes Mosaic 1 more useful than it used to be, especially for travelers who touch both networks. It does not suddenly make Mosaic 1 a premium status, but it broadens the practical footprint of the benefits.

Real Value: Where Mosaic 1 Pays Off

The biggest real-world value usually comes from three things:

  • checked-bag savings,
  • seat selection and EvenMore access,
  • and same-day flexibility.

A traveler who flies JetBlue regularly with a bag, values extra-legroom seating, and occasionally needs to change plans on the same day can get meaningful recurring value out of Mosaic 1. A traveler who almost always flies light, buys Blue Basic, and does not care where they sit will get much less.

The family angle is also stronger now than it was before. Because Family Tiles can help parents reach status faster, Mosaic 1 can now be more defensible for family travelers than it once was, especially if those travelers are already spending enough with JetBlue to get close.

Is Mosaic 1 Worth It?

Mosaic 1 is worth it for travelers who already spend enough with JetBlue or on JetBlue credit cards that status is within reach and who will actually use the airport, bag, and seating perks. It is also more attractive in 2026 because Family Tiles and Blue Sky reciprocity add practical value that was not there in the same way before.

It is less compelling for travelers who mostly buy Blue Basic, rarely check bags, and do not care about early boarding or seat selection. In that case, Mosaic 1 can still look nice on paper while delivering less than expected in practice.

Bottom Line

Mosaic 1 is worth more now than it used to be, but only if you book the right fares and actually use the benefits you earned.
