IHG One Rewards Promotions

IHG One Rewards runs more promotions, and runs them more regionally, than almost any other hotel program — regional flash sales, stay-X-pay-Y deals, buy-points sales, app-exclusive targeted offers, and no fewer than three different airline partner tie-ins (American, United, Emirates, Lufthansa) have all run at the same time in different years. Because so many of these offers are region-specific (Southeast Asia, Europe, Australia & the Pacific) rather than global, it’s easy to miss one that doesn’t cover where you’re actually staying. Rather than publish a new one-off post for every offer, this page tracks the current promotions and keeps a running history of past ones, so you can see the pattern and know what a good offer looks like when one shows up.

How IHG One Rewards Promotions Typically Work

Looking back over the past few years of these offers, they fall into a handful of repeating types:

• Regional bonus-point promos — a flat or multiplied bonus (2X–5X points, or a flat 2,000–10,000 points per set number of nights) tied to a specific region (Southeast Asia, Europe, Australia & the Pacific), usually requiring registration.
• Cash-rate discount sales — a percentage off the Best Flexible Rate (commonly 15–30%), sometimes paired with a bonus-points kicker, often tied to new hotel openings or a seasonal flash sale with a short booking window.
• Buy-points sales — a large percentage bonus (routinely 90–100%+) on purchasing IHG points directly, among the best ways to add points without a qualifying stay.
• Stay-X-pay-Y deals — book a set number of consecutive nights (commonly 4) and the last night is free, usually restricted to Suite or Club-level rooms and non-refundable once booked.
• Elite-status fast-tracks — a stay-requirement window for Gold, Platinum, or Diamond status, relaunched under a similar structure most years.
• Airline partner tie-ins — bonus miles instead of points on qualifying IHG stays, run at different times with American AAdvantage, United MileagePlus, Emirates Skywards, and Lufthansa Miles & More.

The InterContinental Ambassador program is a standing membership (paid or earned through spend) rather than a time-limited promo, so it won’t appear in the history table below. Most flash sales and stay-X-pay-Y deals are non-refundable once booked and require prepayment in full, so check the cancellation terms before committing — the discount isn’t worth much if your plans change.

When Is an IHG One Rewards Promotion Actually Worth It?

IHG points are worth notably less per point than most major hotel programs, so buy-points bonuses and bonus-point promos need checking against a real redemption, not just a bigger balance — see our guide to how much IHG points are worth for that math. Cash-rate discount sales and stay-X-pay-Y deals are the more straightforward wins here, since you get the savings regardless of how you value the points — but factor in the non-refundable, prepaid terms before booking.

Elite-status fast-tracks are worth it based on how close you already are to qualifying on your own and which tier’s benefits you’d actually use; see our guide to IHG elite status levels and our guide to IHG Gold elite benefits for what each tier actually gets you.

Bottom Line

IHG One Rewards’ promo calendar is the most frequent and the most regionally scattered of the major hotel programs, which means the right question isn’t just “is this a good offer” but “does this offer actually cover where I’m staying” — a 30% discount on new Southeast Asia openings does nothing if your next trip is in Europe. Because IHG points carry a lower baseline value than programs like Marriott or Hyatt, cash-rate discounts and stay-X-pay-Y deals tend to be the more reliable wins, since the savings don’t depend on how you value the points. Buy-points sales and airline-miles tie-ins are worth chasing only with a specific use in mind, and it’s worth remembering that the InterContinental Ambassador program is a standing membership, not a limited-time promotion — you can join it any time rather than waiting for a registration window.

Seen an Offer We Haven’t Listed?

Targeted and regional offers usually aren’t published anywhere official — IHG sends many of them directly to individual members or limits them to specific countries, so the only way anyone else finds out is if someone shares it. If you’ve received one that isn’t listed above, drop the details in the comments: the offer, the bonus amount, the dates, and where you saw it (email, app, or your IHG One Rewards account). We check the comments regularly and fold the useful ones back into this page.
