IHG’s next worldwide promo lets you earn 2X points on paid stays starting with your second stay between October 1 and December 31, 2026 – or 3X points if you book through the IHG One Rewards app, WeChat, or LINE. There’s no cap on how many points you can earn, but you need to register first. Keep in mind the bonus applies only to base points, so elite and card bonuses show up separately.

How 2X/3X Actually Works
- Register for the promo (pre-reg Sep 17–30, or anytime through Dec 31, 2026).
- Complete your first stay (no bonus).
- From the second stay forward, earn 2X base points booking direct, or 3X base points booking via the IHG app, WeChat, or LINE, on every qualifying stay through Dec 31, 2026—no cap.
Gotchas to avoid: Stays must be booked direct on qualifying rates and >$30/night; award nights/Points & Cash and OTA bookings don’t count for bonus; if you finish a stay before you register, it won’t qualify for the promo. Bonus points from this promo do not count toward elite qualification.
IHG hotels usually give you 10 points for every dollar you spend. But if you stay at Staybridge or Candlewood, you get 5 points per dollar. This deal gives you 2X points from your second stay booking direct, or 3X points booking via the app, WeChat, or LINE. If you have elite status (like Platinum or Diamond), you get even more points on top of what you already earn.
Let’s say your room costs $200 at a regular IHG hotel, booked direct (2X):
- Base points (10x): 2,000 points
- 2X promo bonus (direct booking): +2,000 points
- Platinum bonus (+60%): +1,200 points
- Total (before using a credit card): 5,200 points
Same $200 room, booked through the IHG app (3X):
- Base points (10x): 2,000 points
- 3X promo bonus (app/WeChat/LINE booking): +4,000 points
- Platinum bonus (+60%): +1,200 points
- Total (before using a credit card): 7,200 points
If you pay with an IHG credit card, like the Premier card, you get even more points (for example, 10x at IHG). So, in the same example, using the Premier card would add +2,000 points, making your total 7,200 points. Just remember, the promo bonus only applies to the base points.
If you’re staying at Staybridge or Candlewood (where you get 5x base points), the promo bonus applies on top of that 5x before adding any elite or credit card bonuses.
Stacking Tips: Turn 2X Into 3–4X Value
- Aim paid nights at high-earning brands (10x base) in this window; save award nights for later since they don’t trigger the promo bonus.
- Hold an IHG card (e.g., Premier/Premier Business) to layer 10x card points on top of base + promo + elite.
- Leverage elite status: Platinum (+60%) and Diamond (+100%) bonuses compound the paid-stay returns in addition to the 2X promo. (Elite bonus is on base only.)
- Book through the IHG One Rewards app (not just a mobile browser), WeChat, or LINE instead of the website to bump the bonus from 2X to 3X – same qualifying-rate rules apply.
Bottom line
If you’ll have two or more paid IHG stays between Oct 1 and Dec 31, 2026, register and stack – 2X base from stay #2 booking direct (or 3X via the app, WeChat, or LINE), elite on base, and card earn on the charge. That’s the cleanest way to close out 2026 with a healthy points bump.
