IHG One Rewards has launched a new airline partnership promotion, this time giving members the chance to earn 3X United MileagePlus miles on eligible hotel stays. The offer replaces the recent American Airlines AAdvantage promotion, which ended earlier this month, and follows the same concept — switch your IHG earning preference from points to airline miles, register for the promotion, and earn triple miles on qualifying stays.
Details of the Offer
The promo is fairly simple:
- register for the offer,
- switch your earning preference to United miles in your IHG account,
- book a new eligible stay of at least one night through the promo link,
- and complete that stay by September 30.
To participate, you must be a member of both IHG One Rewards and United MileagePlus, register for the promotion between July 8 and September 30, 2026, and complete eligible stays during the same period. Only direct bookings made through IHG qualify, while Reward Nights, Points & Cash reservations, and bookings through online travel agencies like Expedia or Booking.com are excluded.
Unlike the standard IHG earning option, you’ll need to select United MileagePlus as your earning preference in your IHG One Rewards account before check-in. Choosing airline miles means you will not earn IHG One Rewards points for these stays. Instead, you’ll receive MileagePlus miles. Under the promotion, you’ll earn a total of three times your normal MileagePlus miles, including both the standard miles and the promotional bonus.
Example of Earnings
For example, if an eligible stay normally earns 500 MileagePlus miles, this promotion boosts the total to 1,500 miles — the original 500 miles plus an additional 1,000 bonus miles. There is no limit to the number of bonus miles you can earn during the promotion.
Which Hotels Are Participating?
The promotion is available at participating IHG brands, including InterContinental, Kimpton, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, voco, Vignette Collection, Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites, Six Senses, and most other IHG properties worldwide, although some hotels may not participate.
This offer makes the most sense for travelers who value United MileagePlus miles more than IHG One Rewards points or who are working toward a specific United redemption. However, members chasing IHG elite status benefits tied to point earnings should compare the value carefully before switching their earning preference.
The promotion ends September 30, 2026, and registration is required before qualifying stays will earn the bonus.
