-
Live now for IHG credit cardholders; opens to Platinum & Diamond elites on Sept 12. No registration—discount shows automatically on standard awards.
-
Book by Mon, Sept 16, 2025 for stays completed by mid-November (hotel-local time and the property page control the exact cutoff).
IHG One Rewards has turned the lights back on for a familiar deal: a 15% discount on award nights. This round is targeted, time-boxed, and—if you play it right—useful for squeezing more value out of your points or stretching a free night certificate a little further.
The sale is open now for IHG credit cardholders and opens Friday, September 12 for Platinum and Diamond elites. Either way, you must book by Monday, September 16, 2025, for stays completed by mid-November.
IHG sets everything by the hotel’s local time, so don’t get caught by a midnight cutoff in another time zone. Several outlets list different “stay-by” dates (some say Nov 8, others Nov 18)—the safest move is to check the date shown on your specific hotel’s booking page before you finalize.
How To Check the Offer and Participate in It
You don’t need to register. Log in, search with points, and the lower price should display automatically—often with the original points figure struck through. If you’re eligible as a cardholder or elite, the discount shows on properties with standard award availability during the window.
There are two big rules to understand.
- First, the discount only meaningfully applies on stays of up to three nights. That’s because the popular Fourth Night Free card benefit beats a 15% reduction on longer stays.
- Second, For Points & Cash payments, the discount is only applied to the portion that relates to points.
This offer is particularly advantageous in terms of margin. Dynamic pricing means that a 15% discount can bring a property that normally costs slightly more than your 40,000 or 60,000 free night limit down to below that limit.
Here is an example of how a discount at the Holiday Inn Washington-Central/White House hotel allows you to apply a certificate with a 40,000 free night limit.
This means that prices for mid-range hotels have fallen and are now accessible with certificates at no extra cost.
If you already have an IHG award for the promotional period, use it; canceling and rebooking can return some of your points without any hassle if the price has changed in your favor.
A quick word of caution about look-alike promos. IHG is simultaneously advertising a separate 15% discount at “new or newly renovated” hotels, with different stay-by dates and property lists. That’s a different offer with its own rules; don’t confuse it with this cardholder/elite flash sale when you’re sanity-checking a price.
Bottom line
If you hold an IHG card or sit at Platinum/Diamond, this 15% award sale is worth a look—especially for short stays and for pushing a certificate to nicer digs. Book by Sept 16 for stays in the next few weeks, watch the hotel-local time cutoff, and always compare against the Fourth Night Free math on 4-night trips. For borderline cases, price the room twice (pure points vs. Points & Cash) and grab whichever comes out cheaper today.
