How the Promotion Works
Not all AAdvantage members are eligible. Targeted members are notified through their AAdvantage account under the “Promotions” tab. Anecdotal reports suggest that less-engaged members or those who have reduced their travel with American Airlines are more likely to receive the offer.
That is, to participate in the offer you must receive an invitation because this offer is targeted.
Participants must register for the promotion by May 23, 2025. Loyalty Points earned between March 1, 2025, and February 28, 2026, will count toward the offer. The program year runs during this period, and points earned through various activities, including credit card spending, contribute toward the goal.
There are at least three offers that we know of:
- Earn 40,000 loyalty points → get 35,000 bonus Loyalty Points (enough to get Platinum status) or give away Gold status.
- Earn 75,000 loyalty points → get 50,000 bonus Loyalty Points (enough to get Platinum Pro status) or give Platinum status as a gift.
- Earn 125,000 loyalty points → get 75,000 bonus Loyalty Points (enough to get Executive Platinum level) or give Platinum Pro status as a gift.
Note: After reaching the required points, members have 60 days to select their reward — bonus points or status gifting.
