World of Hyatt and Air Canada Aeroplan rolled out two new cross-program offers on October 14, 2026: an Aeroplan elite status challenge for Hyatt’s top-tier members, and a “double-dipping” bonus that lets you earn Aeroplan points on top of your usual World of Hyatt points on the same stay.

The Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge

If your Aeroplan account is linked to World of Hyatt and you hold Explorist or Globalist status (or hold a World of Hyatt Courtesy Card), you can enroll in a 90-day challenge to earn Aeroplan elite status by racking up Status Qualifying Credits (SQC) through qualifying Aeroplan spend and fare types. Discoverist does not qualify. You can only run this challenge once per calendar year, and enrollment happens on Air Canada’s site, not Hyatt’s.

Aeroplan TierSQC Needed in 90 DaysWho Can Attempt It
25K8,000 SQCExplorist or Globalist
35K12,000 SQCGlobalist only
50K17,000 SQCGlobalist only
75K25,000 SQCGlobalist only

In other words: Explorist members can only chase the entry-level 25K tier, while Globalist members can aim as high as 75K if they can generate enough Aeroplan-qualifying spend in the 90-day window. For context on what each of these Aeroplan tiers actually gets you, see our Aeroplan elite status guide.

The “Double-Dipping” Points Offer

Separately, members can register for a promotion that pays 1.5 Aeroplan points per US dollar spent on eligible Hyatt stays — in addition to the World of Hyatt points you’d normally earn on the same stay. Registration opens November 11, 2026, and runs through February 14, 2027; you have to opt in at World of Hyatt’s offer page before earning starts. Unlike some co-branded promotions, this one isn’t restricted to Aeroplan credit cardholders — it’s open to any member whose Aeroplan account is linked to World of Hyatt in good standing.

What the July 2026 Partnership Already Covered

Hyatt and Aeroplan’s reciprocal partnership launched in July 2026, with earning, redeeming, and transferring points between the two programs, plus baseline reciprocal perks for loyal members of both. These two October offers layer on top of that existing structure rather than replacing it — you don’t need to do anything differently with transfers or everyday earning to take advantage of either one. For the mechanics of moving points between the programs, see our World of Hyatt transfer partners guide or Aeroplan transfer partners guide.

Bottom Line

Both offers are promotional and time-limited — worth acting on now if you’re a Hyatt Explorist or Globalist who’d actually use Aeroplan status or points, but not evidence of a permanent program change by themselves. If Hyatt and Aeroplan keep running challenges and bonus-earning promotions like these regularly, that’s a stronger signal the partnership is deepening; for now, treat this as a limited-time opportunity rather than a new standing benefit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for the Aeroplan elite status challenge through Hyatt?

How many Status Qualifying Credits do I need to earn Aeroplan status through this challenge?

It depends on your Hyatt tier and target Aeroplan status: 8,000 SQC gets Explorist or Globalist members to Aeroplan 25K. Only Globalist members can aim higher: 12,000 SQC for 35K, 17,000 SQC for 50K, or 25,000 SQC for 75K, all within a 90-day challenge window.

How often can I do the Aeroplan status challenge through Hyatt?

Once per calendar year. You need to enroll on Air Canada's website, not through Hyatt.

What is the Hyatt-Aeroplan “double-dipping” points offer?

After registering on World of Hyatt's offer page, eligible members earn 1.5 Aeroplan points per US dollar spent on qualifying Hyatt stays, in addition to their normal World of Hyatt points on the same stay. Registration opens November 11, 2026, and the promotion runs through February 14, 2027.

Do I need an Aeroplan credit card to get the double-dipping bonus?

No. The offer is open to any member whose Aeroplan account is linked to World of Hyatt in good standing, regardless of whether they hold an Aeroplan credit card.
