Earn bonus points and a special discount code when signing up for a new credit card welcome offer by Chase and Southwest Airlines. The companies have three co-branded personal credit cards with one of their best welcome bonus offers we’ve ever seen in the industry. As if increasing the bonus points offer wasn’t enough, travelers can now get a discount on future travel with the airline.

Here’s a look at the new welcome offer to see if it’s the right card for you.

New Welcome Offer from Chase

The line-up of personal Southwest credit cards from Chase are getting a boost to their welcome offers. In the past, we’ve seen a welcome offer of 40,000 points. However, the limited time offer gives even more bonuses for new cardholders applying by June 26, 2023.

Here’s what you get:

  • Earn 60,000 Rapid Rewards points
  • Get a 30% off promo code for use on Southwest flights

Packaging a welcome offer points bonus with a discount code is not typical, but can encourage many people to sign up. The welcome bonus applies to the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card, Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card, and the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card.

Each credit card has the same requirements to qualify for the bonus. Cardholders must spend a minimum of $3,000 with the card within the first three months of opening the account. If you already received a welcome bonus from any of these credit cards within the last 24 months, you’re not eligible for the new offer.

The welcome bonus is just the beginning of rewards travelers can get with these credit cards.

The pass gives you a complimentary ticket for a friend to fly free all year (excluding taxes and fees) and requires 135,000 qualifying points or 100 qualifying one-way flights. Activities like purchasing points directly, booking reward flights, and tier bonus points do not qualify towards the Companion Pass.

Including a 30% promo code discount with the welcome bonus makes it even more attractive. The promo code lets cardholders get 30% off any flight booking with Southwest Airlines. The code is valid for a single-use until October 31.

Here’s details about the promo code:

  • Can only be used on Southwest.com
  • Promo code can only be used once and not shared

Bottom Line

Southwest credit cards are best for frequent travelers on the airline. You get the most value from the Rapid Rewards points by redeeming for travel on the airline. It does have a More Rewards shopping portal for cardmembers which you can redeem for hotel stays, car rental, gift cards, retail, events, dining, and more. The downside is that Southwest Airlines lacks airline travel partners so your points are limited to its own routes.

Thankfully it has a large flight network and 60,000 can get you great reward flights like these examples.
