Atmos Rewards’ new “Communities” system went live October 1, 2026, and two of its six communities carry benefits worth knowing about regardless of which one you pick: a 20% points rebate on kids’ award flights, and a way to earn elite status credit just by transferring in points from Bilt Rewards or Marriott Bonvoy.
What Communities Are
Every Atmos Rewards member now picks one free community, good for a full year before you can switch. There are six: Families on the Go, Global Locals, Culinary Journeys, Active Escapes, and two residency-gated ones (Club 49 for Alaska residents, Huakaʻi by Hawaiian for Hawaii residents). All communities include access to flight sales, day-of-travel perks, and partner offers — the two below stand out because they pay back real points, not just marketing extras.
Families on the Go: 20% Back on Kids’ Award Flights

Members in the Families on the Go community get a 20% rebate on Atmos points spent on award tickets for children age 12 and under — on Alaska, Hawaiian, and partner-airline redemptions alike.
- Covers up to seven children per reservation.
- Points post back within about 24 hours of travel completion.
- The rebate applies to the points portion only — taxes, fees, and carrier charges aren’t refunded.
- No annual cap and no limit on how many times you can use it.
- The adult redeeming the award needs to be in the community at the time of travel; the child doesn’t need their own Atmos account in the community.
- Also includes a 20% points discount on child-friendly experiences booked through Atmos.
In practice: two kids’ awards at 100,000 points each (200,000 points total) return 40,000 points after the trip — a net cost of 160,000 points plus taxes and fees for both children. For families who regularly redeem for kids, that’s a real, recurring discount, not a one-time perk.
Global Locals: Status Credit for Bilt and Marriott Transfers
The Global Locals community adds something Atmos has never had: a way to earn elite status points from transferring points in, not just from flying or card spend. Members earn 1 status point for every 25 base Atmos points received via a transfer from Bilt Rewards or Marriott Bonvoy.
| Points Transferred In | Status Points Earned |
|---|---|
| 50,000 | 2,000 |
| 100,000 | 4,000 |
| 250,000 | 10,000 |
- No cap on status points earned this way.
- Any bonus points from a transfer promotion don’t count toward the status-point calculation — only the base, 1:1 transferred amount does.
- Global Locals members separately earn 10% extra status points on qualifying international flights.
This matters most for members who are short on status points but don’t have more flying to do before their qualification period ends. Bilt transfers to Atmos at 1:1 with no fee, so a member sitting on a large Bilt balance can convert a chunk of it specifically to close a status gap — a cheaper and faster move than booking a mileage run.
The Other Four Communities, Briefly

- Culinary Journeys: bonus points and status points for travel to food-focused destinations, plus a 20% discount on food and drink experiences booked with points.
- Active Escapes: bonus points and status points for nature-focused destinations, plus a 20% discount on outdoor Atmos Rewards Unlocked experiences.
- Club 49 (Alaska residents only): free checked bags and discounts on last-minute travel within Alaska.
- Huakaʻi by Hawaiian (Hawaii residents only): free checked bag, inter-island flight discounts, and a 50% status-and-points bonus launching later in 2026.
You can only belong to one community per person, but a household can spread memberships across different ones — one adult in Families on the Go, another in Global Locals, for example — and still combine the benefits on a shared trip.
Bottom Line
Communities are free, and picking one costs nothing beyond a one-year commitment before you can switch. For most members the choice comes down to these two: Families on the Go if you regularly redeem points for kids, Global Locals if you hold Bilt or Marriott points and want a direct, uncapped path to extra status credit. Everyone else can reasonably default to whichever community matches their actual travel pattern — the day-of-travel perks and partner offers are common across all six.
