Bilt Rewards is a loyalty program that lets you earn points on everyday spending — most famously rent — then redeem them for travel, transfers to airline and hotel partners, or other rewards. If you’re building up a balance, it’s natural to ask when do Bilt points expire (and do Bilt points expire if you don’t use them), so you don’t lose the value you’ve earned.

Do Bilt Points Expire if I Don’t Use Them?

On the Bilt website, you can find different formulations in several places.

1. YesBilt points can expire after 18 months of account inactivity. Bilt’s Terms & Conditions explicitly define “Expiration” as the expiration of Bilt Points after 18 months of account inactivity and point readers to a specific “How You Could Lose Your Points/Point Expiration” section. This is the most authoritative, enforceable source.

    2. Bilt’s Newsroom post (signed as an official update) states plainly: “No. Your Bilt Points will never expire.” This is also an official Bilt source, but it’s not written as a legal policy document.

For anything policy-critical (like whether you could lose points), the Terms & Conditions are the controlling rules, not a marketing/FAQ line in a newsroom post. So the safest reading is:

    • Bilt points can expire if your account is inactive for 18 months (per the Terms).
    • The newsroom statement likely reflects Bilt’s intent that points “effectively don’t expire” for most active members (because rent payments, card activity, or redemptions keep accounts active), but it’s not the legal definition in the Terms.

What Activity Is Required To Keep an Account Active?

The good news is that “activity” isn’t limited to flying or transferring points. Bilt counts several actions as activity, including:

    • making a rent or mortgage payment through your Bilt account,
    • making qualified purchases with the Bilt co-branded card (if you have it),
    • making any redemption using Bilt points, or
    • participating in a Bilt promotional sweepstakes

So if you’re asking, do bilt points expire if i don’t use them, the answer is: they can—but it’s easy to keep them active with any qualifying activity.

Do Bilt Points Expire at the End of the Year?

No — Bilt points do not expire at the end of the year just because the calendar changes. The expiration trigger is 18 months of inactivity, not December 31.

Bilt also has Bilt Cash, which has its own rules and can expire on a calendar basis — but that’s separate from Bilt Points. This article is only about points.

How To Make Sure Your Points Never Expire

If you don’t want to think about it, just make sure something that counts as “activity” happens at least once every 18 months. In practice, the easiest options are: a rent payment through Bilt, a small redemption, or any qualifying purchase activity that posts to your account.
