The New Transfer Avios Tool That Finally Works

There’s a new way to move Avios between airline programs—and this time it’s actually smooth. IAG Loyalty has launched a central Transfer Avios page on Avios.com that lets you send Avios between all of the programs that use the currency, with simple log-ins, two-factor authentication, and near-instant results. It replaces a patchwork of “Combine My Avios” pages that were notoriously flaky.

The tool supports the full Avios family:

  • British Airways Club,
  • Iberia Club,
  • Aer Lingus AerClub,
  • Vueling Club,
  • Loganair Loyalty,
  • Qatar Airways Privilege Club
  • Finnair Plus.

Previously, some moves required awkward detours through BA—now you can push points directly between more pairs, which cuts steps and reduces errors.

Getting started is straightforward.

Pick the program you’re sending from, sign in, and complete 2FA if prompted. Then choose the to program, sign in again, and enter the amount. Transfers post at a 1:1 rate and, in most cases, appear right away. Expect the tool to insist on matching personal details—name, email, and (where stored) date of birth must align across your accounts.

This is more than a fresh coat of paint. The upgrade enables direct transfers among programs that used to require BA as a middleman, and it brings a small but important rule change: Iberia’s old “account must be 90 days old and have earned an Avios” hurdle has been removed. That means you can open a new Iberia account and move Avios in immediately for a specific redemption or sale.

Early testers report that once you’ve linked accounts, moves are fast and reliable. In fact, links between some programs (like BA, Iberia and Vueling) are now treated as permanent connections, which should speed things up the next time you transfer. If you ran into last month’s temporary suspension of transfers, this relaunch is the fix.

Practical Notes

A few practical notes. You’ll do everything online now—phone transfers are off the table—so set up 2FA across your accounts before you need a quick move.

If the tool rejects a link, double-check that your name formatting and email match exactly; a mismatch is the most common snag. And while community reports suggest transfers are instant, build in a cushion if you’re racing to lock a scarce award.

Bottom line

This is the Avios plumbing we’ve wanted for years. It’s one page, it’s secure, and it lets you put your Avios where they’re most valuable—without gymnastics. Start at the Transfer Avios hub, link your accounts once, and you’re set the next time a sweet spot appears.
