Offer Ends: 03/31/2026

A big welcome bonus has (re)appeared on the Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite Mastercard: 80,000 AAdvantage miles after meeting a minimum-spend requirement. Doctor of Credit reports a public link at 80K after $3,500 in 4 months, while in-flight / targeted variants have circulated at 80K after $1,000 in 3 months. The standard public offer on AA’s site remains 50K — so where you apply matters.

Fast facts

  • Welcome bonus: Up to 80,000 miles (offer and spend vary by link; common public path is 50K after $2,500/3 months).
  • Annual fee: $0 intro first year, then $99.
  • 48-month rule: You’re ineligible for this bonus if you’ve received a new account bonus on this exact product in the past 48 months.

If you can access the elevated 80K application path, capture screenshots of the bonus, spend, and terms at submission.

Ongoing earnings & card perks

  • 2x miles at restaurants, gas stations, and on eligible American Airlines purchases; 1x everywhere else. Loyalty Points (LP): 1 LP per eligible mile from purchases, regardless of 2x categories (bonus miles don’t boost LPs).
  • First checked bag free on domestic AA itineraries for you and up to 4 companions on the same reservation; preferred boarding; 25% inflight savings on food & beverages.
  • $125 AA Flight Discount after $20,000 in purchases and account renewal each cardmember year.
  • No foreign transaction fees.

What 80K miles can be worth

With 80,000 points, you could take several trips within the country. Or, if you find a good deal, you could fly business class one way on airlines like Qatar, Japan Airlines, Finnair, or Iberia. If you’re trying to earn AAdvantage status, you get 1 LP for every dollar you spend on the card. Just keep in mind that you don’t get extra LPs for bonus categories.

How to apply

Please note that this is a special in-flight offer; the standard offer has a welcome bonus of 50K. Therefore, to take advantage of it, you’ll need a code. If you don’t have a flight attendant code, just use 000000.

Bottom Line

The 80K Platinum Select deal is a great way to get into the AAdvantage program without paying a lot, mostly because of the free bag and boarding perks, and the consistent 1 LP/$1 toward your status. Just make sure you’re using the right code when you apply, and that you haven’t earned a bonus for this card in the past 4 years.
